How do you become a Christian? First of all, you don’t become a Christian by joining a church, adopting a creed, or by believing in God. There are lots of false churches, false creeds, and even the devil believes in God. Becoming a Christian means you need to understand God’s plan for mankind and who Jesus really is……………
Jesus is the most important figure in all of human history. If you compare Jesus and what He said to any other religious leader like Mohammed, Budda, Zoroaster, Joseph Smith, etc. unlike any of the leaders Jesus made a number of claims that other leaders never made. Let’s take a look as some of these claims.
Jesus said:
If you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins.
Before Abraham was born, I am….
I am the Way, truth Life, nobody comes to the Father except by me.
Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.
When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then ye shall know that I am.
I am the resurrection and the life, he that believe on me,though he die, yet shall he live.
He that sees me hath seen the Father.
I and the Father are one…
(I am that I am (The English transliteration of God’s personal name is YHWH, with vowels added, YAHWEH, translated to I AM WHO I AM.) of the response God used in the Bible when Moses asked for His name (Exodus 3:14). It is one of the most famous verses in the Torah. The Jewish people in Jesus’s day certainly knew exactly what it meant, and for this reason they wanted Him killed.)
No other religious person ever claimed to be the Son of God, and as the Son, who lived a perfect life (which none of the other leaders lived or claimed to live). No other leader ever claimed to take away your sins, only Jesus said if you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins and many other references to forgiving sins. Who would, in his right mind start a religion with the outrageous claim that He was born of a virgin (many references in the Hebrew bible (Dead Sea scrolls they include some of the only known surviving copies of Biblical documents made before 100 C.E) and in the Koran) and after being crucified, claimed that He was risen form the dead, who but God…………..
He is God in flesh (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9), physically risen from the dead, Lord (Luke 24:34; John 2:19-21) and Savior (Acts 5:30-32). He came to die for sinners (Rom. 5:8) to deliver people from the righteous wrath of God upon us.
Are you a sinner?
I ask you, are you a sinner? Have you ever lied, stolen, lusted, coveted, or been angry with someone unjustly? If so, then you have broken the Law of God. God has said “You shall not steal; You shall not lie; You shall have no other gods before Me; You shall not murder, etc.,” (Exodus 20). He has given the standard of righteousness and if you have broken any of God’s commandments then you have fallen short of that standard and are under the inevitable judgment of God. When you die you will face Him and on the Day of Judgment He will punish all sinners, who have not accepted the forgivness of their sins through Jesus. You will have condemed yourself…..
Jesus is the One you need. He alone. Not your works (Rom. 3:10-12; Isaiah 64:6). Not your sincerity. Not your goodness. You have nothing to offer God except your sinfulness. It is only by the love and grace of God found in Jesus and His sacrifice that you can be delivered from the righteous wrath of God upon all who have broken His law.
The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). That means that your sins have caused a separation between you and God (Isaiah 59:2) and the result is death (Rom. 6:23) and wrath (Eph. 2:3). The only way to be saved from the wrath of God, is to be saved from it by faith in Christ (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 5:1). You must trust in what Jesus did on the cross to forgive you of your sins and not trust anything else, not even your own sincerity or works. It is Jesus and only Jesus who can turn away the righteous judgment of God upon the sinner.
The Gospel (Good News)
The gospel is that Jesus died for sinners on the cross, was buried, and rose from the dead (1 Cor. 15:1-4). His death was a sacrifice that turns away the wrath of God, from sinners and God’s wrath was poured out on His Son on our behalf. (1 John 2:2). This is the only way to have peace with God and have an assurance of Eternal Life with God.
He can remove the guilt that is upon your soul. Jesus can set you free from the bondage of sin that blinds your eyes, weakens your soul, and brings you to despair. He can do this because He bore sin in His body on the cross (1 Peter. 2:24) that those who trust in Him would be saved.
Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins. Receive Christ (John 1:12). Only He can wash you clean from your sins and only Jesus can deliver you from the righteous judgment of a holy and infinite God. Pray to Jesus. Seek Him. Ask Him to save you.
When you became a Christian you became a new person, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. 2 Cor. 5:17-18. You can have a brand new start in Life……
This Scripture clearly states that when you became a Christian your spirit is regenerated; this can only be done by a miracle from God. Jesus talked about this in John 3, about the rebirth of your spirit. You need to forget all the past failures, mistakes, sins, broken relationships etc. etc. and not allow your mind to bring you back to these things. All things have become new, then honor what Jesus has done for you and wipe out all these memories of failures and mistakes. You have been forgiven of all these things in the past.
You are forgiven, one of the reasons to get baptized when you became a Christian is to acknowledge that when you come up out of the water, all things have passed away, behold all things have become new. Maybe this was not explained to you, but believer’s baptism (not infant baptism) is accepting the fact that you are now in Christ, risen with Him and announcing to the world that you have become a new person, a son/daughter created by the Word, recreated by God, and all things have become new in your life. The end of this verse 2 Cor. 5:21 tells us that He was made sin for us, so that we might be made the righteousness (no guilt, no sin-consciousness, no condemnation, no inferiority to any other Christian) of God. We have become instantaneously a child of God and we are reconciled to Him.
You are a new creation, a brand new child of God, there need be no condemnation, no fear, no sense of sin or of unworthiness. Now you can see that as far as you are concerned as a New Creation, condemnation can be a thing of the past. It is not necessary to live in it another day. The Son has made you free. Now live and walk in that freedom. When you sin, you have an Advocate before your Father. I John 1:9 tells us how to be restored – “If we confess our sins (things we have done that brought us into darkness), he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Now honor your Father, give thanks to Jesus for all things becoming new in your life. The Holy Spirit will guide you in these truths, now you will co-labor with Him and change your thinking to come in line with the Word instead of the World. No wonder they call this New Covenant “Good News” – it is good news to anyone who wants freedom, and is willing to battle the enemy and take back the things that were stolen from them.
Here is a sample prayer you can offer to Jesus. It does not have to be exact, but you will get the idea.
Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against you. I know that I am not perfect and that I cannot please you through my own efforts. I know that I deserve to be judged according to my sins. And, I know that I have nothing to offer you. Lord Jesus, I ask you to forgive me of my sins. Please cleanse me and make me right before you. I trust in what you have done on the cross. I do not rely on myself but only on you and I receive you as Lord of my life and as savior of my soul. Lord Jesus, save me. I look to you alone.
If you have prayed and asked Jesus to deliver you from your sins, your sins are forgiven, you have been regenerated by God. Regeneration is a rebirth which brings in a new life. It is absolutely a matter of life, not a matter of doing. Regeneration is simply to have life other than the life we already have. We have already received the human life from our parents; now we need to receive the divine life from God. Hence, regeneration means to have the divine life of God in addition to the human life which we already possess. Therefore, regeneration requires another birth in order to possess another life. To be regenerated, to be born again, does not mean to adjust or correct ourselves. It means to have the life of God, just as to be born of our parents means to have the life of our parents. To be regenerated is to be born of God (John 1:13), and to be born of God is to have the life of God, that is, the eternal life (3:15-16). then please e-mail me below.
